Creating A Following Is Not Rocket Science

How different blogs and websites gain a following can be, as unique as, snowflakes and fingerprints. However, there are several techniques that can really help you market your website and greatly grow your business. Seriously, it’s not rocket science. These techniques are so simple, you can do them yourself.

Utilize Social Media

The power of social media is phenomenal. Don’t take for granted that you literally have these tools at your fingertips virtually free of costs. You should have several social media accounts that will interact with your website including:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Linkedin
  • Snapchat
  • Pinterest

It’s also, a good idea to have all of these accounts, linked back to your website with interactive content. Your audience wants to see content that relates to them. If it’s not, you are missing the mark.

Consistently Post Content

How much content and how often you should post is quite debatable. I suggest posting to your social media and website daily. Yes, this means rolling up your sleeves and actually working, however, the rewards will pay off. If your audience sees you every day, they start to recognize your web page.

Content should be fresh and in bite-sized digestible pieces. Articles shouldn’t be more than 1,000 words unless it takes more to get the point across. Most readers will only read up to 800-1,000 words at a time. After 1000 words they typically move on to something else. Consider making shorter articles rather than one long article.

Interact With Your Followers

Most people start failing by not interacting with their followers. You can’t just consistently post and expect a great following. You need to talk to your followers. Be personable. Promote your followers. If you have other bloggers or website hosts following you, reach out to them. Promote their content. Be friendly and engaging. Your followers don’t want a content pusher. They want someone they can relate too. If you want to increase your following you have to help those around you. Allow for guest posting where applicable.

Email Lists

Be proactive in promoting yourself. A great way to do this is by sending out a weekly email to your followers. You should have a way for them to sign up for emails. If you don’t, you won’t grow as fast as you would like to. Also, your emails should include specials, promotions and freebies. You have to make your email list seem exclusive and important to be on.

Get Creative

Create content that is edgy, interesting and bold. Go outside the norms to make your business seem different and interesting, while still staying true to yourself and the values you hold. People appreciate different. It’s refreshing and enticing to see unique content online. Don’t hold yourself back by staying within just the trends. Be different. Be bold. Be creative. People will love and respect you for that. Don’t forget to be your authentic self too!

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to know how to build rockets to grow your business. You just have to be active in promoting yourself and what you do. Your website and blog will grow if you put the effort in. If your content is not reaching many people after all this, you need to re-evaluate what you are doing and how you can make it better. So, get out there and make a difference. Good luck!!
