As part of the ongoing recognition for his contributions to current literature, bestselling author Darren Prince recently received an award for his latest book, Aiming High. On November 15, 2018, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in New York City, Barak Granot, president of Metrix Promotions, presented the awards on behalf of the Best-Selling Authors Association to Darren Prince and Magic Johnson, who wrote the foreword for the book.
Aiming High, a story of courage and faith, reached the #1 Bestseller lists in the United States, Canada, Australia and the UK. The author was also recognized at an event later that day held at the Pomona Restaurant, where Jason Binn of DuJour Media recognized Prince’s success with his book. Magic Johnson and Barak Granot also attended the celebration.
Darren Prince “hit rock bottom at the top” when he became addicted to opiates while representing such superstars as Magic Johnson, Muhammad Ali, Joe Montana, Chevy Chase, Dennis Rodman, Larry Bird, Hulk Hogan and “Smokin’ Joe” Frazier. Unfortunately, his success did not insulate him from the devastating effects of drug dependency. “Until I examined the reasons for my problems and addressed them directly, there was no recovery from addiction,” Prince noted.
Today, Prince has learned to value himself as much as his famous clients. With the support and guidance of those he loves and spiritual fellowship with others who have helped him along the way, Prince has been able to conquer opioid addiction one day at a time. He has made it his mission to help others understand that they are valuable, loved and important so that they, too, can escape from the problems of dependency and move forward with a new and meaningful purpose.
Prince has received several accolades for his work in the field of addiction. He was one of 225 guests invited to the White House on behalf of the Trump administration for the historic signing of a $6 billion bill to help fight the epidemic. As a noted speaker, he is of the most requested recovery advocates in the country, having been invited to numerous high schools, organizations, and businesses to share his message. Aiming High has also enjoyed blockbuster success with numerous book signing events, and Prince has appeared on several major network shows such as CNN Chris Cuomo, Extra and others.
Aiming High enjoyed a limited release on September 18, 2018, and a full release on October 2 through Light Hustler Publishers and was co-authored with Kristen McGuinnes. The book is available at the website Aiminghighbook.com.
Darren Prince has been in the sports and entertainment industry since he was 14 years old. He built a multi-million dollar baseball card company and then became a leader in private autograph signings. After selling his company, he launched Prince Marketing Group in 1996, representing Magic Johnson, “Smokin’ Joe” Frazier, Dennis Rodman, Chevy Chase, and Pamela Anderson for marketing opportunities such as endorsements, corporate events and licensing. Over the years PMG has continued to add such legendary talent as Charlie Sheen, Ric Flair, Roy Jones, Jr., and the late Evel Knievel and Burt Reynolds.
